Monkey Safety Nets in Kompally
A monkey net is built for a different problem than a bird net. It has to bear weight, resist tugging, and anchor into solid structure rather than plaster.
- Heavy knotted rope mesh, not lightweight bird netting
- Fitted on terraces, courtyards, open balconies and light shafts
- Anchors driven into structural concrete at tight spacing
- Site visit first to plan spans and fixing points

The difference
Why a regular net won't hold up
Monkeys tug, hang off and bite at things. A light bird net gives way the first time it's tested seriously, and once one gap opens the entire installation is pointless. Monkey netting uses a much heavier knotted rope mesh with a reinforced border rope, and the anchor points are set closer together, driven into structural concrete rather than plaster or brick alone.
Span is also a factor. A wide terrace can't be covered in one unsupported stretch — it needs intermediate support so the net doesn't sag under its own weight, let alone anything landing on it.

The problem
What a monkey troop does to a home
In the parts of Hyderabad where troops have settled in, the damage is routine, not occasional — overhead tanks pried open, laundry snatched off the line, potted plants knocked over the parapet, dish antennas dislodged, kitchens raided through a door left ajar. For households with small kids, the safety worry outweighs even the property damage.
Scare tactics rarely last. Monkeys catch on faster than any deterrent stays effective, so a physical barrier is really the only thing that keeps working over time.
Where it goes
Areas we typically cover with monkey netting
- Open terraces and roof slabs
- Internal courtyards and open-to-sky wells
- Balconies of independent houses and villas
- Overhead water tanks and utility platforms
- Light shafts and open stair heads

Planning
What we check during the site visit
First, how the monkeys are getting in — over a compound wall, along a cable line, from a neighbouring terrace or from a nearby tree. Netting one opening while leaving the obvious entry route open just shifts the problem a few feet away.
Second, the fixing surface itself. Sound concrete is essential at every anchor point, so we assess the parapet and slab condition before quoting. If the parapet is weak, the fixing approach changes, and we'll tell you that upfront rather than after the fact.
Living with it
Using the terrace once it's fitted
The net sits overhead or across the opening, so the terrace floor stays fully usable — clotheslines, plants and water tanks remain accessible as before. Where you need to get above the net for tank maintenance, we build in an access panel at the inspection stage.
Sun and rain pass through the mesh without trouble, so the terrace doesn't turn dark or trap heat.

FAQs
Questions customers ask us
Can monkeys break through the netting?
Not the heavy knotted mesh we use, provided the anchoring is done right. Failures come from weak fixing points, which is why we check the parapet and slab before anything else.
Does it block sunlight on the terrace?
No. The weave stays open, so light and rain pass through and the terrace remains usable as before.
Will I still be able to reach my overhead tank?
Yes. We build in an access panel over the tank during the inspection so servicing and cleaning aren't affected.
What's the biggest area you can cover?
Large terraces are done in sections with intermediate support so the net doesn't sag. We work out the layout at the site visit.
Is this the same mesh used for pigeons?
No — that netting is far lighter. Monkey netting is a heavier rope construction with much stronger anchoring throughout.
How long does the job take?
Anywhere from a day to two, depending on the terrace size, span and the fixing work required.
